More about this game
Solo Chess Tactics & Campaign offers two ways to play: a puzzle campaign and a skirmish mode. In the campaign, you must find forcing moves to complete specific objectives, like capturing the queen or delivering checkmate, within a strict move limit. In skirmish mode, you command the white pieces against a computer opponent with three difficulty levels. A campaign stage ends when you complete the goal or run out of moves, while skirmish matches end in checkmate or a draw.
Tips
- Use the hint button if you get stuck in the campaign; it highlights the piece you need to move to find the forcing line, but it costs you a 2.2 second delay.
- In the campaign, pay close attention to the move limit and look for forcing moves like checks or captures to solve the position within the par limit to earn 3 stars.
- Start with the Apprentice difficulty in skirmish mode to get used to the computer's quick replies before facing the Master level's deeper search and stronger tactics.
FAQ
- How do I win campaign stages?
- You must complete the specific objective shown on the screen, such as capturing a specific piece or delivering checkmate, before you run out of moves. If you exceed the limit, you fail.
- Can I play as black?
- No, in both the puzzle campaign and the skirmish mode, you always command the white pieces. The computer opponent will always take control of the black pieces to fight against you.
- What do the difficulty levels mean?
- Apprentice makes quick replies, Tactician looks ahead slightly, and Master performs a deeper search to find the best moves against you in the skirmish matches.
