More about this game
Aether Chess challenges you to clear a grid of enemy crystals using traditional chess movement rules. You control a single piece but can switch its movement type—King, Queen, Rook, Knight, Bishop, or Pawn—at any time. The goal is to capture all enemies on the board before you run out of moves. The difficulty increases across 10 levels as the move budget tightens and more enemies are placed. A run ends when you either capture all enemies to win or exhaust your move budget.
Tips
- The Knight is the only piece that can jump over enemies; use it when your path is blocked.
- The Pawn can only move exactly one tile forward (up the screen).
- Switching your piece rule does not cost a move, so experiment to find the best path.
FAQ
- How many levels are there?
- There are 10 levels, starting at Obsidian and ending at Cosmic Prism, each with a specific move budget.
- Do I lose a move when I change pieces?
- No, changing the active piece rule does not consume a move. Only moving on the board counts toward your budget.
- Can I move through enemies?
- Most pieces cannot move through enemies. Only the Knight can jump over occupied tiles.
