More about this game
Your goal is to reach the 2048 tile by combining matching numbers on a 4x4 grid. Every time you move, all tiles slide as far as possible in that direction, and a new 2 or 4 tile spawns in an empty spot. When two identical numbers collide, they merge into a single tile with double the value, adding to your score. The difficulty increases as the board fills up with different numbers. The run ends when the grid is completely full and no adjacent tiles can merge.
Tips
- Keep your highest value tile in one of the corners and build your other numbers around it to prevent it from getting trapped.
- New tiles have a 90% chance to spawn as a 2 and a 10% chance to spawn as a 4, so plan your merges accordingly.
- Avoid alternating directions too much; try to primarily use only three directions to keep your tiles clustered together and leave open space.
FAQ
- How do I win the game?
- You win by merging tiles until you create a single tile with the number 2048. Once you reach it, a victory screen appears, but you can choose to keep playing to increase your score.
- When does the game end?
- The game ends when all 16 squares on the 4x4 grid are filled with tiles and there are no adjacent tiles with the same number that can be merged.
- How is the score calculated?
- Your score increases every time you merge two tiles. The amount added to your score is equal to the value of the newly created merged tile.
