More about this game
The goal is to checkmate the opponent's king. You can play standard matches against 10 difficulty levels, choosing time controls ranging from a 1-minute bullet game to a 30-minute long match, or play without a clock. The core loop involves moving your 16 pieces across the 64-square board to capture enemy units. A run ends in checkmate, a timeout, or a draw triggered by stalemate, insufficient material, a 50-move limit, or a 3-fold repetition.
Tips
- Start by moving a center pawn to open paths for your bishops and queen. Controlling the center is crucial early on.
- Use the puzzle mode to practice specific tactics. You can choose themes like forks, material gains, or checkmates to improve.
- If you get stuck, use the hint button. It suggests a move, but remember that the computer evaluates positions up to 5 moves deep on higher levels.
FAQ
