In Echo Steps, your goal is to escape five temporal research chambers by working alongside your past actions. Every 10 seconds, the timeline loops and an echo spawns to repeat exactly what you just did. You must coordinate with these looping ghosts to hold down amber plates, push boxes, and flip switches to open the exit gate. The puzzles become more complex as deadly spikes and lasers are introduced. Touching any hazard instantly resets the timeline, forcing you to try the chamber again.
Tips
- Plan your 10-second route carefully; your echo will only keep a plate active if you stood on it until the timer reached zero.
- You can have multiple echoes active at once. In later chambers, record one cycle for each plate and switch to open the final gate.
- When pushing the box in chamber 3, make sure you push it far enough onto the right plate so your echo can replicate the movement.
FAQ
- How do I open the exit gate?
- You must activate all the amber plates in the chamber simultaneously. Since you can only be in one place, use your 10-second echoes to hold them down while you run to the exit.
- What happens if I touch a laser?
- Touching an active pink laser or falling onto the red spikes will instantly reset the timeline. This forces you to restart the current chamber and record your echoes from scratch.
- How do I turn off the lasers?
- Stand near the amber switch marked with an 'E' and press the Use button. You can also record an echo pressing the switch to keep the laser disabled while you move past it.
