More about this game
The Vision Spectrum Wheel is an interactive art installation exploring individual perception. The goal is to experience six different visual accounts, ranging from the bright wedge of Typical Vision to the indigo cloud field of Amelia's Post-detachment. The core loop involves selecting a segment on the wheel, observing the artistic translation of that vision, and reading the curator's note. The experience is open-ended with no win or loss conditions, allowing you to return to the wheel and explore other visions at your own pace.
Tips
- Take your time to observe the subtle changes in each vision, such as the shifting exposure in Jack's fluctuating vision or the temporary black spots in Lisa's neurological vision.
- Read the curator's notes carefully to understand the context. For example, the matte-black Reflection wedge acknowledges the artist's teenage assumption that blindness meant total darkness.
- Notice the faint flashes of light in Amelia's post-detachment vision, which occur at intervals of 5.5 seconds by default, showing that darkness is textured and active.
FAQ
- Are these clinical simulations of visual impairments?
- No, the visual effects are artistic translations of lived accounts, not clinical simulations. They are meant to be interpretive artworks about individual perception, showing that vision is plural.
- How many different visions are there to explore?
- There are six distinct visions to explore on the wheel: Typical, Fluctuating, Mosaic, Neurological, Post-detachment, and Former Assumption. Each features a unique color palette, visual effect, and curator's note.
- Can I turn off the ambient sound?
- Yes, you can toggle the ambient sound by clicking the musical note icon located in the top right corner of the screen. This allows you to view the art silently.
