More about this game
Tongits is a card game where the goal is to empty your hand or finish with the lowest points. You start with 12 cards, or 13 if you deal. On your turn, draw from the 52-card deck or discard pile, meld sets of 3 or more cards, and discard one to end your turn. You can also sapaw by adding to existing melds. The round ends when a player empties their hand, the deck runs out, or a player calls Draw. Winning earns you chips from opponents.
Tips
- Try to meld early so you can call Draw if your points are low. Hand points are calculated with A=1 and J/Q/K=10.
- Watch what opponents discard to guess what they are trying to meld. You can take the discard only if it makes a meld.
- Sapaw opponents' melds to prevent them from calling Draw. If you sapaw someone, they get a 'sapaw'd' badge and cannot call Draw.
FAQ
- How do points work?
- Aces are worth 1 point, face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points, and all other cards are worth their face value. The player with the lowest points wins if the deck runs out or Draw is called.
- What is sapaw?
- Sapaw is when you add a card from your hand to an existing meld on the table. This prevents the owner of the meld from calling Draw on their next turn.
- When can I call Draw?
- You can call Draw at the start of your turn if you have at least one meld on the table and your melds haven't been sapaw'd by an opponent. Opponents can then fold or challenge.
