About Prickle Patch
Solve logic puzzles by placing one shy hedgehog in every row, column, and color patch without letting any of them touch each other.
How to play
- Look at the colored patches to figure out where a hedgehog can safely fit.
- Tap any empty square once to mark it with an X if you know it's empty.
- Double-tap a square to permanently place a hedgehog in that exact spot.
- Use the hint button if you get completely stuck on a tricky grid.
- Fill the entire board with hedgehogs without losing your three acorns to win.

Your goal is to fill 50 increasingly tricky garden grids with shy hedgehogs. Each row, column, and colored patch must contain exactly one hedgehog, and no two can touch, even diagonally. You start each level with three acorns and three hints. Placing a hedgehog in the wrong spot costs you an acorn. If you lose all three acorns, the hedgehogs get too shy, and you must restart the level.
Tips
- When you place a hedgehog, the game automatically marks all surrounding squares and the rest of the row, column, and color patch with Xs.
- Look for small colored patches first. If a patch only has one or two squares, it is much easier to figure out where the hedgehog goes.
- Remember the diagonal rule. If you place a hedgehog, the four diagonal corners touching that square are also strictly off-limits for any other hedgehogs.
FAQ
- What happens if I make a mistake?
- Placing a hedgehog in the wrong square costs you one of your three acorns. If you lose all three acorns, you fail the level and must try again.
- How many levels are there to play?
- There are 50 levels in total. The grids start small at 4x4 squares and gradually expand up to 9x9 squares as you progress through the game.
- Is there a mode for color-blind players?
- Yes, you can toggle the color-blind patterns on the title screen. This adds unique symbols like stars, hearts, and triangles to each patch to make them distinct.
